He stayed in Cleveland eight years where he sold vacuums, vanilla and other assorted items designed to make a door-to-door salesman go hungry. When the war came along, Duke joined the Air Corps as a cook. He spent some time in England, France, and South America before the war was over. After the war he came to Denver and got married. His wife, Edna, had two girls and two boys by a previous marriage. They now have fifteen grandchildren by the way. In 1950 Duke came to work at Norgren. After working a couple of years in the Burr Room he was transferred to the Shop where he ran a turret lathe. From the Shop he went to Inspection as a regulator tester. When this job was absorbed into the Assembly Department about five years ago, Duke came with it, and now, as you enter the factory, it is Duke's smiling face that you first encounter. Don't let that stop anyone from coming into the factory, however. Duke's hobbies are baseball, golf, and his cabin in Nederland. Almost every weekend and vacation you can find Duke and Edna at the cabin. He says he plans to ive there when he retires. At present they live in a beautiful apartment at 5998 West 28th Avenue.
