Henry A. Sigler, 85, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of St. Louis and Henderson, KY, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a valiant struggle with cancer. Visitation will be at Mount Moriah Funeral Home at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, September 25 with graveside services at Mount Moriah Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 26. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 100 W. Red Bridge Rd., Kansas City MO 64114.
Henry was born December 31, 1919 in Crittenden County, Kentucky, to Willie Davis Sigler and Allie Powell Sigler. His mother passed away a few hours after his birth.
He was a lifelong Baptist and a member of the Frist Baptist Church of Red Bridge.
Henry was, like so many his age, a member of "the greatest generation" having fought in the North Africa and Italian campaighns in World War II. After the war, he met the love of his life and married Mary Virginia Sigler. That union produced one son, Terry. A devoted husband, father, and provider for his family, Henry retired after 30 years of service to Chrysler Corporation.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ginny, of the home; son, Terry and a beloved daughter-in-law, Jan, both of Overland Park, Kansas. Henry is also survived by his wonderful and loved sister, Geneva Tomlinson, of Henderson, KY. He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen King, and a brother, Clarence Sigler. He loved and missed them very much. He had a great love and a special relationship with a niece, Brenda Sue Nichols and her husband, Harry.
