Mrs. Elizabeth Berry Jewell, widow of Ash H. Jewell, died Sept. 4 at her home, Pleasant View, on the Harrodsburg pike near Wilmore, after an illness of three weeks.
She was the mother of Mrs. Frank L. McVey and John B. Jewell of Lexington and Robert B. Jewell of Pleasant View, farm manager of the Kentucky State Fair.
Mrs. Jewell was born in Mercer county in 1861 and spent her girlhood at Berry, KY. She was married in 1884 and she and her husband, who died four years ago. (something is missing-jek)
She was a member of the Presbyterian church and devoted much of her time to church and community activities.
Mrs. Jewell was a daughter of late late John M. and Louisa Dawson Berry.
Besides the three children, Mrs. Jewell is survived by four grandchildren, Asa H. Jewell, Larchmont, N. Y., Miss Elizabeth Jewell, Lexington and Charles W. and John B. Jewell, Jr. Franklin, Tenn., and by three great-grandchildren, Therese, Margaret and Asa H. Jewell, Jr., all of Larchmont, NY.
