JAMES M. PYLES, Born May 8, 1843, in Marshall county, was a son of George and Nancy (Clyde) Pyles, both deceased and married, Jan. 1880 in this county, Amy Geho, born here April, 1834, a daughter of John and Hannah (Reed) Geho, deceased. Comrade Pyles was employed as a farmer when he enlisted at the age of 19 years, as a private April, 1861 at Cameron, in Co H, 1st W. Va. V. I. In the fall of 1863 he was in hospital nine days on account of sickness, and was furloughed from hospital for thirty days, returned to command near Atlanta. In Aug 1861 he was honorably discharged fromst enlistment, re-enlisteding Aug 1862, at Waynesburg, Pa., in Co. B, and H, Pa Cav. He was on dispatch duty at Rosecran's Hd Qtrs, and under Gen Thomas as Ord.; he fought at Antietam, Stone River, Chicamauga, Lookout Mt., Selma and several others, receiving an honorable discharge at Nashville, Tenn., June 26 1965; he had four brothers in the service, William was killed at New Creek and Jerry died of smallpox while in the service; three brothers of his wife, were also in the war; her first husband also served in the lae war and was killed at Elizabeth, W. Va. Comrade Pyles is Adjutant of Liberty Post 87, he is engaged in farming, and his address is Bannen, W. Va. Parents: George PYLES and Nancy CLYDE.

Bradenton, FL, John Frank Qualls, 89, died Sunday, January 20, 2008, at his home in Bradenton, FL.
He was born in Humboldt, Tennessee on September 7, 1918 to the late Ernest and Mattie Sue Qualls. Frank moved to Arkansas when he was a young boy and lived in Arkansas most of his life, having recently moved to Bradenton, FL. Frank retired from the Singer Company in 1973. Frank enjoyed fishing. He was a loving dad, papa and great-papa.
Survivors include fours sons, J. E. Qualls of Jonesboro, Charles Vernon Qualls, Jim Qualls and John Frank Qualls, Jrs all of Harrisburg, ten daughters, Margaret Reynolds and Annette Peace of Jonesboro, Sharon Goodin of Harrisburg, Virlene Neal of Trumann, Gail Simpson of Edwardsburg, MI, Linda Hughes and Deborah McClure, The Colony, TX, Martha Parnell of Bradenton, FL and Brenda Medina and Regina Miller of Irving, TX, 25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, 5 brothers and 9 sisters.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Qualls; one son, Ted Qualls; one daughter, Diana Craig and two grandsons Michael Justin McClure and Adam Jared Miller.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, January 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gregtg Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro, Brother Gary Brown will be officiating. Burial will follw at the Pinelog Cemetry in Brooklyn.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 24, 2008 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
