Mrs. Effie M. Morris, 77, Rt. 4, died at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital. Born March 8, 1894, in Burnettsville, she was the daughter of Floyd and Nora McMullin Million. She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and an honorary member of the Fourth Mothers Study Club. her marriage was Oct. 6, 1914, at Lake Cicott, to Frank T. Morris who survives.
Surviving with the husband are three sons, Tom, 410 Longtree Lane, Ted, 2405 Hasty Hyll, and John W., Lake Cicott, one daughter, Mrs. Betty Dunderman, 3031 Woodlawn Dr.; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. One sister and one brother preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald E. Felty officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Burket was baptized on Aug 7, 1774, at the Zion Lutheran Church of Alburtis, PA. As a teenageer, he moved with his parents to a farm along the mountainour border of Fayette/Somerset Counties, PA. Burket served in the War of 1812 and later operated one of the earliest grist mills in Preston co WV.
In 1796, Burket was assessed taxes for land in Turkeyfoot Twp, Somerset County. Sometime around 1805, he and Franky moved across the state line into Kingwood, Preston County, WV. They continued to own land in Somerset County during that time.
