James Dewey McLehaney, 878, died Wednesday in the Fort Bayard Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Chalktown, Ark., on April 21, 1899 to Samuel Monroe and Joseph Bradford McLehaney. He was married to Dixie Cody on Aug. 27, 1926. He came to Santa Rita in 1924 and worked for Chino from 1925 until his retirement in 1967. For a number of years he worked with the Boy Scouts in Santa Rita. He and his wife moved to Central in 1966.
He is survived by his wife, Dixie; two sons, James Dewey McLehaney, Jr. and his wife Betty of Bakersfield, Calif., and Thomas Ray McLehaney and his wife, Ann of Chesterfield, Va.; three grandsons, Curtis, Dusty and Brooke; a sister, Clara Shetley, of Clinton, Ark.; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Schultz of the Valley Community Church and F. M. Roundtree of the First Baptist Church of Central officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Bill Brazier, Ronnie Wofford, John Rader, Tim Rader, Abe Rivera and Ward Ballmer. Honorary pallbearers are Cecil Emory, Manuel Gutierrez, Frank Madlock, Curtis Raymer and William Farrar. In lieu of flowers, the family has request donations be made to the Boys Ranch of New Mexico, Belen, NM 87002, or to a favorite charity.

Irene Pease, 75, Dawson Springs, died January 5, 1999 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. She was preceded in death by her husband J. C. Pease in 1981.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Ellis, Morganfield; Ronnie Pease, Providence, Dennis Pease, St. Charles, Keith Pease, Dawson Springs; three sisters, Carolyn Taylor, Victorville, CA, Thelma Ratley, Sturgis, Lucille Pease, Sturgis; one brother, Douglas Pease, Dawson Springs and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday January 7, 1999, Rev. A. G. Winters officiated with burial at Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.
