Meredyth Rollings, a life-long resident of Colorado, passed away peacefully at the age of 89, on September 15, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Harry E. Rollings, who passed on twenty years earlier.
Meredyth was also preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Newell McIntyre, her brother Newell Jr., her sister, Mary Belle Grant, and her granddaughter, Rachel Rollins. She is survived by her sons Harry III and Thomas, as well as daughters Judith DeMarco, and Meredyth Long. Surviving grandchildren inclue Joel Rollings, Jennifer Kresse, Nathaniel Langman, Kathryn Long, Elizabeth Long, Ashley Brink, Ryan Rollins, Dana Cookson, Brando DeMarco, and Gina Curlee. Great grandchildren include: Cameron Cookson, Riley Cookson, and Ola Lanman.
Merdyth graduated from the Denver Kent School, then attended St. Mary's College in North Carolina, before finishing her education at the University of Denver. After a brief modeling career, she met Harry Rollgs and was married in Pine Bluff, Arkansas in 1942.
Meredyth spent many years working for Penrose Public Library, reading stories to young children, operating the "Book mobile" program, doing research for the library's many patrons. Mrs Rollings' many inerests included raising a family, volunteering at hospitals, fishing in Canada, and researching pioneer history. Meredyth was known as a person who was always willing to give her time and energy to help others. She often thought of others before herself, and made certain that her children were taught to value these principles.
As God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. In lieu of flowers, donations my be made to Colonial Columns Nursing Home in Colorado Springs. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2009 at Grace Episcopal Church, 601 N. Tejon Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
