This was at one time on the Steele farm, but is now located where the tanks of the Ingram Oil & Refining Company river terminal are now situated." GAS FUMES KILL SPOTTSVILLE MAN, "Thomas McCarty, 35, Found Dead in Louisville; to Return Body"
Thomas McCarty, 35, formerly of Spottsville, was found dead Wednesday in his rented room at a private home in Louisville yesterday, according to the Associated Press.
McCarty, an employee of the Mengel company, of Louisville is believe to have died from gas heater fumes.
The Assoicated Press said that Deputy Corner, M. Rodger Doherty expressed belief that McCarty's death was accidental.
Mrs. Ethel Piland, at whole home McCarty roomed, said he had complained of a cold, and she disovered his body sometime later. Detecting gas fumes, Mrs. Piland said she investigated.
McCarty, who had been in Louisville for about ten months, in survived by his mother, Mrs. Emma McCarty and two brothers, Hayden and Watson McCarty, all of Spottsville.
Otis A. Benton, jr.k local undertaker, left last night for Louisville to return McCarty's body to Henderson.

Funeral services for Thomas McCarty of Spottsville, who was found asphysiated in Louisville, Wednesday, will be conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Spottsville Baptist church, the Rev. E. E. Deusner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Ridgewood cemetery.
The pallbearers will be: Robert Green, George Cabell, Roy Hape, Jim Sam Long, Powers Church and Arch Coxon.
McCarty's body was discovered by the landlady of the home where he roomed in Louisville. He had been employed in Louisville for the past several months.

Mrs. Virginia McCarty Bare, 64, wife of Rev. Carl Brenton Bare of 128 Bliss Road, retired minister of the United Congregational Church, died last night at Newport Hospital after a six-weeks illness.
She was born in Henderson, Ky. daughter of Dr. James Aud McCarty and Florence Hitt McCarty, later Mrs. John Keller. She was graduated in 1916 from Randolph-Macon Women's Dollege in Lynchburg, Va. Her marriage to Mr. Bare took place the next year.
In Newport, Mrs. Bare organized the International Club for Women and the first United Congregational Church fair, and was a leader in church women's work. She was a member of Newport Chapter, American Assn. of University Women.
During her husband's earlier pastorate in Concord, N. H. she organized the Green Apples Writers Club and was active in the Players Guild. While he was pastor in Calcutta, India, she became interested in the worldwide literacy campaign of Dr. Frank C. Laubach, and helped to organize classes for teaching reading by his single picture chart method. She continued her interest in the ecumenical church movement after returning to this country, and has worked to promote a world outlook among local groups.
Mrs. Bare leaves her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Monroe Kenyon, of Medfield, Mass., two sons, John Brenton Bare of Naples, Italy, and Dr. Roderick Hughes Bare, of Santa Monica, Calif., a brother, Dr. Arthur Clayton McCarty of Louisville, Ky., and three grandchildren.
