"Deacon George Alonzo Likens. This beloved brother has been a faithful deacon in the Walnut Street Church for many years. He was born near Rockport Ferry, Daviess County, Kentucky, on October 27, 1864, and is the son of Joseph and Artimesa Husk Likins. he grew up on a farm and attended the common schools of the county. He has followed the occupation of farming most of his life.
He was converted under the preaching of Elder D. E. yeiser and was baptized in the the fellowship of the Curdsville Church by Elder T. L. Brooks. He was ordained a dean of this Church in June 1908, and served the Curdsville Church prior to that time as Moderator, Clerk, and Sunday School Superintendent. He has served the Walnut Street Church as deacon since February 1910. He has been the representative of this Church on the Executive Mission Board for a number of years.
He was married on October 8, 1889, to Miss Eliza Sandefure; two sons and one daughter were born to this union. Miss Likens died on April 16, 1898, and he later married Mrs. Jennie Mullen.
In his activities in the Churches, ordain other deacons, and many other things that have caused the Churches to make progress. Mr. Likens is an old fashioned Baptist and takes great pride in his faith and is uncompromising in his denominational views. Yet, he is a humble and considerate man loved by a host of people.

Joseph Worcester (Bill) Lindsley, III, passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2012 following a brief illness. He was surrounded by loved ones as he made his transition into his new life with Christ.
He was born to Joseph Worcester Lindsley, Jr. and Dorothy (Branch) Lindsley on June 24, 1930 in Dallas, where he continued to reside throughout his life. He attended Highland Park High School and SMU. One summer he fought forest fires in Yosemite National Forest. After graduating, he entered the U.S. Air Force and served for two years; after which time, he became the third generation to join his family's real estate business, J. W. Lindsley, Inc., which he continued to run until his death in 1954 (?) He met his loving wife Edgerley at Highland Park Presbyterian Church. They married in 1956, and were blessed to spend their lives with each other. As a member of the church, he served as Deacon and Elder and was active with the children's ministry. He is preceded in death by his wife, Edgerley (Clark) Lindsley, who died last month and his brother, Robert Marshall (Bob) Lindsley who died in 2010. He is survived by his children, Clark Edward Lindsley of Houston, TX and Carolyn Elizabeth (Lindsley) Morchower of Valley Village, CA, his daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy Lindsley and Glenn Morchower and his grandchildren, Samantha, Grant and Joshua Lindsley and Grey and Emily Morchower.
A memorial service will be held at 3 o'clock on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Highland Park Presbyterian Church.
