Nathan Coy LACEY was born on 24 September 1918 in Strong City, Rogers Mills, OK. He died on 26 December 1993 at the age of 75 in Crawford, Rogers Mills, OK. obituary, The Oklahoma City (OK) Daily Oklahoman, Wednesday, December 29, 1993, p.30
Nathan "Coy" Lacey, 1918 to 1993
On December 23, 1993, Coy and Pearl Lacey celebrated their 55th year of love and marriage. On December 26, he died.
Born September 24, 1918 at Strong City, Oklahoma to Josh and Mildred Lacey. Nathan C. Lacey was raised on a small farm East of Roll, Oklahoma. He and his brother, J. T. Lacey, and his sisters, Eula, Lola and Caludie, attended the one room school called Five Star. That's where he met his wife, Pearl, when they were only seven and eight years old. They were married in hard times, 1939, and moved to Arizona where he found work as a cotton ginner. Their children were born there, a daughter, Shirley and a son, Leon. In 1948, when times got better, Coy and Pearl moved back to Roger Mills County and bought a farm near the Durham-Crawford communities. He raised broom corn, planted, chopped and picked cotton, and raised other crops until he started a dairy and milked cows two times a day for 35 years. When his son, Leon was 13, the boy died in a tractor accident. The hurt was deep, but Coy was later comforted by the love and affection he shared with his two grandchildren, Ronald and Linda Turley. His great-granddaughter, Lacy Turley Stutz, carries his name and was a rising star in his life.
After retirement in 1977, he spent his time in his woodworking shop, designing and crafting toys and household pieces. he fished and traveled and learned to play the fiddle. N. C. "Coy" Lacey once was an active member of the Black Kettle Roundup Club. He served on several agricultural and dairy association committees. He was a good farmer and a good dairyman. Coy loved his church, the Magnolia Baptist, and its people. He was an active member and Deacon to his death. Many are saddened and hurt by his passing.
Among the survivors are his wife, Pearl; daughter, Shirley Turley; grandchildren, Linda Turley Stutz and Ronald Turley; his great-granddaughter, Lacey Turley Stutz; his son-in-law, Windle Turley; sisters, Claudie Davis and Lola Allen; his grandson-in-law, Tom Stutz; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He loved the land, tended to his business, and spoke ill of no man or woman.
Services will be Wednesday, December 29, 1993 at 2:00 p.m. in the Magnolia Baptist Church, Crawford, Oklahoma with A. L. Martin officiating and Kenneth Gamble and Calvin Walker assisting. Interment will be in the Silent Home Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Cheyenne, OK.
