"Convicted of Slaying Husband of Paramour"
Stockville, Neb.--A 28-year old Nebraska farmhad previously convicted of adultery for a romance with his employer's wife was found guilt last night of first degree murder in the torch slaying of the woman's hustand.
An all-male Stockville District court jury deliberated four and a half hurs before returning the guilty verdict against Harvey Dubin who told the courth the wife of his employer "would come to the fields to get me" during their illicit affair.
Life imprisonment was recommended. Durbin prvisouly was given a one-year term for adultery.
Victim of the death by fire last June was Novel Johnson, 46, who widow, Mrs. Eva Mae Johnson, 42, already is serving a life term for second-degree murder. She plead guilty to plotting her husband's death with Durbin.
Johnson died in a McCook, Neb. hospital of burns suffered in a flash fire that swept the basement of his Stockville farm.
Authorities said Mrs. Johnson and Durbin poured gasline on the farmer and ignited it.
Durbin admitted having sexual relations with Mrs. Johnson on the day of the flash fire. He said she showed him a number of government bonds and a bank book but added that he "wasn't very good at figures and did not know how much was there."
The case went to the jury late yesterday.
