Nov. 26, 1831, died at Ozawkie, Jan. 7, 1917, age 85 years, 1 month and 12 days. She was united in marriage with W. R. Francis, February 19th, 1851 and to them was born two boys and our girls. They came west to Illinois then to Iowa where they lived three years coming to Kansas in 1855. Being among the pioneer settlers they endured many hardships and privations incident to the settlement of a new country. with courance and industry they continued the struggle until their efforts were rewarded and a better day had come. They located near Ozawkie which has been their home almost continuously from their arrival here until called to lay their armour down. Mrs. Francis united with the M.E. Church in 1862 and was an active worked in that faith a number of years when, by changing location, she became isolated from the church of her choice and took up membership with the United Bretren Church of which she was a member at the time of her departure. Her husband and one son preceded her in death. Those of the family who remain are Mrs. W. L.
