PEG HINES--Long time Bozeman resident Peg Hines died July 1, 2003, after a long but courageous battle with cancer.
Peg (Margaret Jane) Fisher Hines was born Aug. 3, 1928, in Butte, "America" to Margaret Tobin Sheehan and Wesley Fisher. She graduated from St. Johns Grade School, Butte Publish High School, and Montana State University where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and Mortar Board (1950).
Peg earned a master's degree in medical technology from Wayne University and Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich.
While working in Butte, Peg met and married Ed Hines. They moved to Bozeman in 1960. Peg was active in various youth, civic, state and recreational activities. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Besides Ed, her husband of 48 years, Peg is survived by four children, Lyn of Bozeman, Deborah (Stephan) of Panama, John (Siobhan) of Helena, and Michael (Greta) of Spokane. There are also six wonderful grandchildren: Brendan, Tara, Aran, Bryn, Jack, and Erik.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and beloved step father, Dave Burby.
Peg will be remember for her ability to live life to the fullest, even when faced with significant adversity. Her spirit will be carried forward by all she touched, and her loving and giving nature will be greatly missed.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Monday, July 7, at Holy Rosary Church. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Dahl Funeral Home.
Memorials maybe made to the charity of one's choice.

GREENWICH, Conn. Aug. 24--Mrs. Nellie Fitch Singleton, one-time president of the New York branch of the Southern Women's Educational Alliance, now the Alliance for the Guidance of Rural Youth, died yesterday at her home here at 80 Dayton Avenue after a long illness. She was 79 years old.
A member of an old family in Louisville, Ky., Mrs. Singleton was born there, a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Fitch, who owned an operated a large Louisville department store, and the late Mrs. Florence E. Wilson Fitch. She lived in Evanston, Ill., before moving to New York and, finally, to Greenwich.
Mrs. Singleton was the widow of Jouett Parker Singleton, former manager of the Western department of the Niagara Fire Insurance Company, who died in 1933. Her son, Lieut. Jouett Fitch Singleton, was killed in action in France in the recent war.
In the Nineteen Twenties and Nineteen Thirties Mrs. Singleton was active in the affairs of the Southern Women's Educational Alliance, which did much to train girls in rural communities for useful vocations. The alliance also sent field workers to rural Southern schools, studied the social needs of the children in them and advised teachers and local authorities. Exhibitions were held here of the work of the alliance and numerous theatrical benefits were given for it. At her death Mrs. Singleton was a trustee of the present alliance, which has headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Singleton was once president of the Evanston Drama Club and was a member of the New York chapter of the National Society of Colonial Dames.
Surviving are a son, Edwin Lewis Singleton of Greenwich; a sister, Miss Clara Fitch of Greenwich, and a brother, Benjamin F. Fitch of New York.
