News was received this morning of the death of the Rev. Henry Wade Dubose, D.D., 75, who many years ago, was pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in this city. at Sweet Briar wher he had been living with his sister, Mrs. Alfred Barrow.
His funeral will be conducted at 3 P.M. tomorrow at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg with burial in Spring Hill cemetery there.
Dr. Dubose had been in failing health for some months due to a malignancy and recently had developed critical symptoms.
Dr. DuBose, who was a native of Spring Hill, Tennessee, came to Danville in 1919 and remained until 1922 as pastor of the Presbyterian congregation. He was ordained in 1910.
When he left here, he went to Spartanburg, S. C. where he built a church and where he remained several years. From there he went to Dallas, Texas, in answer to a call to establish a church and, some years later, he filled a pastorate at Mobile, Ala. He also was the author of "We Believe," a book on the Apostles' Creed, a revised edition of which was published recently.
Since his retirement, the Rev. Dr. Dubose has supplied for several vacant pulpits, including churches in Wilmington and Laurinburg, N.C.
