"Mrs. Rudy, Mother of Mrs. Henry Waetzel, of Henderson, Died Last Monday"
Mrs. Rudy, mother of Mrs. Henry Waetzel of Henderson, died at the home of her daughter last Monday. A year or two since, Mr. and Mrs. Waetzel moved from Madisonville to Henderson. The father and mother of Mrs. Waetzel, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy, lived with them. A few months ago, the father was stricken with disease, and since that time he has been an invalid and entirely helpless. He still lingers, but will last but a short time. Mrs. Rudy was taken sick recently and death has claimed her. These two old people were much beloved in Madisonville by those who knew them. They were Christian people in the fullest sense of the word.
obituary, undated typed from newspaper clipping, probably the Henderson (KY) Gleaner of November 15, 1898
The most profound sympathy and expressions of condolence were spoken yesterday upon the death of that most estimable woman, Mrs. Margaret Rudy, the wife that well-known citizen Jr. John Rudy.
Mrs Rudy's death occurred yesterday morning about 11 o'clock after a protracted illness of some weeks and resulting from old age, she having usefully lived more than three score years and ten. she was born in Louisville in the year 1819, where on Oct. 15th, 1837, she was married to Mr. John Rudy. Her maiden name was Miss Margaret Daley. She was a model wife and mother and none knew her but to love and respect her. Hospitality always reigned supreme in the Rudy household and she, who crossed the dark river, was of its chiefest dispensers.
Mrs. Rudy was a happy Christian woman because of a duty well performed and for whom awaits a crown of glory in that birght world where there is no more sorrow and no more deth. There survies Mr. Rudy, a husband, and nine devoted children, five daughters: Mrs. Susan R. Beatty, Mrs. S. P. Smith, Mrs. W. S. Johnson, Mrs. Henry Waetzel and Mrs. Strachan Barret, and four sons: Chas. A., Henry, John and William Rudy. The funeral will occur from the Methodist church this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in Fernwood.
