Cox, a former Nicholas County attorney, died yesterday at Nicholas County Hospital. He was 71. Cox served as county attorney for 24 years, from 1950 to 1974. He was also a former Carlisle city attorney and was president of the Kentucky County Attorney Association in 1958. he was a lawyer for 46 years. For 33 years he attended every meeting of the Carlisle Rotary Club and was the club's past president. he was also a member of the Carlisle Presbyterian Church and the Dougherty Lodge 65 F&AM, and he was a veteran of World War II. A native of Nicholas County, Cox attended the University of Kentucky and the Columbus Law School in Washington, D. C., where he worked for the Rural Electrification Administration while in law school. He also served as the fund-raising chairman for the Girl Scouts of American in Nicholas County for many years. he was presented the Carlisle Jaycees' Distinguished Service Award in 1971.
