Dixie Iva McLehaney, 94, of Fort Bayard passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, in Fort Bayard medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Lavelle officiating. Interment will be in Memory Lane Cemetery.
Mrs. McLehaney was born Feb. 18, 1907, in Higden, Ark. She was the daughter of Tom Cody and Lucy Turney Cody. She was married to James Dewey McLehaney. She is survived by two sons, James Dewey McLehaney, Jr., and Thomas Ray McLehaney; three grandchildren, Curtis Siegler, Dustin McLehaney, and Brooke McLehaney; and four great-grandchildren, Myam Siegler, Melody Sigler, Matthew Siegler and Hannah Siegler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dewey Sr., in 1986; and brothers, Ernest Grover Cody, in 1945, and Byron Vernon "Pete" Cody, in 1997.
She and her husband moved to Santa Rita in 1926. Throughout her life, she was active in the Community Church at Arenas Valley and the Home Extension Club. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a favorite charity.
